I recently wrote an article about the family of Nazi leader Josef Goebbels. On May 1 1945 Josef Goebbels’ wife Magda killed their six children, and the couple then committed suicide. The day before, April 30 1945, Adolf Hitler had committed suicide.
The article I wrote was based on astrology. In this article I want to focus on names, letters and numerology.
It would seem that Magda and Josef Goebbels thought that it was really cute to give their children Christian names beginning with ‘H’. The children’s names were as follows:
Helga Susanne Goebbels
Hildegard Traudel Goebbels
Helmut Christian Goebbels
Holdine Kathrin Goebbels
Hedwig Johanna Goebbels
Heidrun Elisabeth Goebbels
It has been suggested that the reason the children were given names beginning with ‘H’ was in honour of Hitler. However this probably wasn’t the case. Josef Goebbels was Magda’s second husband. Her child from her first marriage, who was born in 1921, was named Harald, another ‘H’ name.
However this doesn’t mean that the Hitler connection wasn’t important.
When you name all of your six children with a name beginning with ‘H’, you’re creating a certain energy. Especially when those children are under the shadow of a man whose last name also begins with H.
At some level, the destiny of these children was being linked with Hitler, and arguably the buckle that bound them was the letter ‘H’. When Hitler died, the children died.
From a numerological point of view, ‘H’ is the eighth letter of the alphabet, so some would say that it is strongly connected with the number eight.
According to the Western tradition, codified by the occultist Cornelius Agrippa in the Sixteenth Century, the number eight is in turn linked with Saturn, a planet that traditionally is very unfortunate. So we could say that a collective, Saturnine destiny awaited the six children.
It should be noted that Madga’s first child, Harald, who was an air force officer, survived the war. He was killed in a flying accident in 1967.

Wow .. you really are fascinated by world war 2! Great article .. always love reading about that time period. What about Himmler .. he too was closely linked with Hitler and ended up killing himself with cyanide.
Himmler of course tried to save his skin – typical Libra! He thought he could do a deal with the Allies, behind Hitler’s back. And yes, he committed suicide with cyanide. Goebbels went for total destruction, though ironically he was probably aware that Germany had lost the war before most of the Nazi leadership. I suppose if you’re minister of propaganda, you have an insight into the underlying truth. For a time he was on the ’socialist’ wing of the Nazi party, but that changed.
Dr. Goebbels used to beat the drum of anti-semtism a lot .. even in the speech of his that’s on youtube he’s talking about “paying like with like” .. not sure about his socialist tendencies. I know that Himmler was obsessed with the whole master race concept .. Hitler was influenced by a book of a eugenicist as far as i remember. Still .. quite a play of the alphabet H .. so many of them!
holy crap! do you believe what you wrote? over here in germany you can hear me laughin so loud that it hurts… the mysterious curse of the H – i can’t believe you mean it XD
so why harald, the first child survived this day?
what about magda herself or her husband joseph? no H in there, but they died on this day.
this woman wanted her kids first name to begin with ‘H’. you know how stupid the people could be when they choose names for their kids. to highlight the fact, that they all belong to the same family – even if one of them has another dad- (using for all the other kids the same initial letter) is nothing unusual.
Hi Dana, thanks for the comment. I do acknowledge that Harald survived. And perhaps you’re taking my article a bit too seriously. I was musing about the letter ‘H’, and suggesting that maybe there was a bit too much ‘H’ for anyone’s good. So yes, there was nothing particularly unusual about the letter H, but IF you believe that numerology works, then you would regard the ‘H’ as becoming significant, because of its repetition. And of course in the most common system of numerology ‘H’ is connected with the number eight, which is in turn connected with Saturn, a malefic.
