Today, December 18, Jupiter goes into Capricorn. It’s an important event. According to the ancients, Jupiter is one of the rulers of time, and it spends roughly a year in each sign. In fact Jupiter remains in Capricorn until January 2009. So, what does it mean?
Well, if you’re a Capricorn it’s good news. Jupiter is the planet of good fortune, and in 2008 you’ll be luckier than average.
However Jupiter isn’t happy in Capricorn, and the overall influence is going to be down-beat. People are going to be materialistic, thinking about short-term profit and loss rather than the big picture. Indeed in
many quarters there’s going to be an obsession with money. And perhaps power as well. Forget humanity, what matters is me, me, me!
In general it’s not going to be a very spiritual year - the bank balance will be more important than the soul. Yes, some people will actually believe that the true test of our worth as human beings is how much

Fashion-designers should also consider the impact of Jupiter in Capricorn, particularly as in January 2008 Pluto joins Jupiter in Capricorn. Things that are extravagant and tacky are unlikely to find favour, and the less that’s revealed the better. Conservative colours such as black, grey, navy blue and brown are the ones to go for, and if we’re going for a job interview a sombre suit will be more appropriate than shorts and T-shirt.
